City College's plans to build a Travel and Tourism suite including a mock up of a cabin are now in the advanced stage and should be built by September's intake. Talks are taking place to work closely with Fly-Be and some of the teachers spent a day at the Flybe training school

The Plymouth 14-19 Diploma Partnership will be delivering the Diploma in Travel and Tourism from September 2010. The application was developed by a partnership comprising of: Hele's School, Ridgeway School, Eggbuckland Community College, City College Plymouth and the University of Plymouth and involves a range of partners and organisations representing all industry sectors. The Higher Diploma will be delivered at Ridgeway and Eggbuckland Community Colleges and the Advanced level at City College Plymouth, Ridgeway and Eggbuckland. The Diploma in Travel and Tourism introduces 14-19 year old learners to the exciting world of travel and tourism. Learners will acquire knowledge and develop skills in the broad context of the travel and tourism industries. In this rapidly changing, challenging, dynamic and global business environment learners will be able to make informed decisions about potential careers and further or higher education. The Diploma in Travel and Tourism provide an education that helps learners thrive in a constantly changing global economy ensuring that teaching and learning draws on up-to-date developments from the relevant sector. Some topics covered include destinations and attractions, transport options, working in travel and tourism, images and perceptions, changing trends in travel and tourism and creating products and services.
